Terms and limitations for Shield Our Elders.
Shield Our Elders is a scam-safety education app for older adults, families, caregivers, and community helpers. By using the app, you agree to these Terms.
The app can help you review suspicious messages, calls, emails, screenshots, payment requests, and voicemail transcripts. It can also show learning tips, practice examples, trusted-contact tools, reminders, and recovery steps.
The app is educational only. It is not a bank, lawyer, doctor, police agency, emergency service, cybersecurity company, tax expert, or financial advisor. It does not replace your bank, payment provider, attorney, doctor, local authorities, emergency services, or any qualified professional.
Scams change quickly. The app can make mistakes. It may miss a scam, mark a safe message as risky, or give an incomplete explanation. A low-risk result is not a promise that something is safe. A high-risk result is not proof that someone committed fraud. Treat the app as a second opinion, not a final decision.
If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number. If money, account access, passwords, identity information, or device access may have been exposed, contact your bank, card issuer, payment provider, local authorities, and a trusted person as soon as possible.
You are responsible for what you choose to paste, upload, save, send, call, text, open, report, or share. Before sending money, sharing codes, opening links, giving remote access, or responding to urgent requests, verify through an official phone number, official website, or trusted person.
The app can help you call or text trusted contacts using information you enter. Make sure those contact details are correct and that you have permission to save them. Messages created by the app are suggestions only, so review them before sending.
The iPhone app includes a compact model for offline text checks. Screenshot reading uses Apple Vision. Audio requires on-device Apple speech recognition and may be unavailable on some devices. These checks can return incorrect results. The separate browser preview may use an analysis service only when explicitly configured.
Do not misuse the app, interfere with it, use it to harm others, use it for unlawful purposes, or rely on it to make automated decisions about another person.
Shield Our Elders and its content are owned by its creators or licensors. You may use the app for personal, educational, family, caregiver, and community safety purposes. You may not copy, sell, or redistribute the app except as allowed by law or with written permission.
The app is provided as is and as available. To the maximum extent allowed by law, Shield Our Elders is not responsible for losses caused by use of the app, reliance on app results, third-party service errors, missed scams, false warnings, outages, account compromise, identity theft, lost money, or lost data.
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple and Google are not responsible for the app's maintenance, support, claims, or content except as required by their own platform terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are important, we will make the updated Terms available in the app or through another reasonable notice.
Questions about these Terms may be sent to projectshieldourelders@gmail.com.
By continuing, you acknowledge that you have read and understand these Terms.
